Cyber Crime Awareness Programme jointly organized by Lions International District 324J and Cyber Society of India , was successfully held on Saturday, 31st May 2025 at the Conference Hall, Anna Centenary Library, Kotturpuram, Chennai – 85.
In a significant move to promote public awareness on cyber safety, the Cyber Society of India (CySI), in collaboration with Lions International District 324 J, organized a Cyber Crime Awareness Programme at the Anna Centenary Library Conference Hall, Chennai. The event witnessed active participation from around 100 attendees, who were awarded participation certificates.
The programme was inaugurated by Lion A.T. Ravichandran, PMJF, District Governor, Lions District 324 J, who underlined the collective responsibility required to combat the growing threat of cybercrime. Dr. A. Thiyagarajan, Senior Advocate, and Dr. S. Elumalai, Professor and Head, Department of Human Rights, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, delivered the Guest of Honour addresses, focusing on legal aspects and the need to protect digital rights.
The technical sessions featured expert talks by distinguished speakers:
Mr. Balu Swaminathan, Secretary, CySI & Former Additional Superintendent of Police, emphasized the need to change the mindset of netizens, delivering 17 key messages on safe digital practices.
Mr. Vijayakumar KM, President, CySI, spoke on emerging cyber crime trends, threats and prevention techniques.
Lion S. Harikrishnan, Former General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, provided valuable insights on financial cyber frauds and regulatory measures.
Mr. S. Prabakaran, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime Wing, Tambaram City Police, stressed the importance of reporting financial cybercrimes without delay through the helpline number 1930 and the national portal www.cybercrime.gov.in.
The event drew participation from Lions members, law enforcement personnel, legal experts, professionals, and members of the public.
