The Cyber Society of India (CySI) successfully conducted a Cyber Crime Awareness Programme on Sunday, 15 March 2026, aimed at equipping individuals with the knowledge and confidence to navigate today’s digital landscape safely.

Held under the thought-provoking theme “இணையத்தில் பயணம் – இனிமையா? கொடுமையா?” (Cyber Journey – A Pleasure or a Peril?), the session shed light on the growing challenges of the online world and how users can stay protected.

As part of the programme, I delivered a session highlighting current cybercrime trends in India, including key statistics on the number of cases reported and the scale of financial losses due to cyber fraud. The discussion also covered the top three types of cybercrimes contributing to monetary losses, helping participants understand where the risks are highest.

A detailed awareness segment focused on:
🔍 Investment scams and how fraudsters lure victims
⚠️ “Digital arrest” scams and psychological manipulation tactics
📲 Malicious APK scams and risks of installing unverified apps
🌍 Emerging threats like Cyber Slavery
🛡️ Practical security guidelines to stay protected online

Additionally, I explained the features of Sanchaar Saathi, highlighting how it empowers citizens with tools and resources to prevent fraud and enhance digital safety.

Participants gained valuable insights into:
