Cyber Society of India recently hosted a compelling panel discussion at the Conference Hall, Anna Centenary Library, Chennai on the 16th of March 2025. The event titled “Is Cybersecurity More Essential for Humans or Information?” featured esteemed Chief Guests, including Hon’ble Justice Mr. N. Anand Venkatesh from the High Court of Madras and Hon’ble Justice P.N. Prakash, a retired Judge from the High Court of Madras. The panelists, such as Ms. N.S. Nappinai, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Mr. Na. Vijayashankar, a Data Protection Consultant, Mr. Sharath Chandran, Advocate, High Court of Madras, and Mr. K. Vaitheeswaran, Advocate & Tax Consultant, provided thought-provoking insights during the discussion.
The Chief Guest emphasized the significant financial losses due to increasing cybercrimes trend in India, underscoring the importance of cyber awareness. The panelists further delved deep into the topic, shedding light on the critical need for Cybersecurity in safeguarding both Information and Humans.
In the welcome address and context setting, I’ve spoken the vital role of Cybersecurity in ensuring the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) of data was highlighted. Cybersecurity not only protects valuable information but also plays a crucial role in preserving personal privacy, safety, and well-being in today’s digital era. As technology advances, the evolution of AI poses new challenges, with threat actors leveraging AI for sophisticated cyber attacks like social engineering and deep fakes.
The event witnessed a diverse audience of over 150 participants, including representatives from TamilNādu Cybercrime Police Dept, Advocates, Law enforcement officials, Law students, and cybersecurity professionals. This diverse gathering facilitated a rich exchange of ideas and insights on the evolving landscape of Cybersecurity.
